Anyone know what the deal is with gamestop warranty.
Got a used 360(Premium) back in August 07(Build date March 07) and my warranty is 1 year with gamestop.
Lately the 360 is starting to freeze in certain games and the only solution is power on/off.
Ive a feeling its on the way out.

Anyone know what gamestop will replace the console with? Will it be a used console considering the price drop or will they match the original price I paid in August so I could possibly add a few quid on and get a new elite??I kept the receipt so know exactly what I paid for it.

    Thanks

    Richie

    Alright Richie,

I don't know about the warranty they offer but my cousin traded in this Xbox Premium for an Elite last weekend in GAMESTOP Henry St and got €150 for the console. He added €200 and upgraded to the Elite.

He's very happy with it and upon hearing GTA4 requires you to install 10gb on the hard-drive (to run smoothly) I may be following in his footsteps!

I'd be pretty sure they'll either get it repaired or replace it with what you bought. They have the right to refund you but it's up to them. It's repair / replace / refund and after a reasonable period its up to the retailer.

If it went faulty after a week or two (generally up to a month) then you can get a repair / replacement / refund too but it's up to you to dictate to the retailer.

Ask them if they'll refund it and tell them you'll buy a new Xbox instead. They can decide not to give you a refund but if you're nice to them and don't go in shouting or whatever they'll prolly do it.

Just a quick update.360 finally failed altogether so I rang gamestop.Theyre replacing the 360 to the same value that was on the receipt which was 330 euros.

Decision time--Do I get an elite or just get a used premium and keep the extra few quid for games, accessories??
Is the 120 gb drive really that useful?Dont see the point in it if you cant play media from it.

Help--need to collect it tomorrow before lunchtime.

Id say go the extra bit for the elite.

The warranty for the Xbox is now 3 years with Microsoft. I'd say you could take it to Microsoft themselves if Gamespot refuse you.

Microsoft may refuse to repair it as the contract is with the original person who bought the xbox. He'd have to pay around e90 to get it fixed AFAIK.

Got the Elite in the end. They had a used one with a build date of Oct 2007--gave it to me for a straight warranty swap.

One question though--Cant seem to get 1080p with the hdmi or component cables--any one got any idea why.TV supports 1080 p as far as I know.

And its also much quieter than the old premium which is great aswell.

No, it doesn't. You're thinking of the PS3 version which requires an install. There is no optional or forced install for the 360 version.

Ya, there was nothing asking me to install GTA when I started it up today. On my old premium I had only 9Gigs of space left so it would have put me in an angry place if I had to install something.

I got my 6 month old Elite swapped for a brand spankers (falcon) with the RROD , wuithout questions asked in Gamestop.
Not sure how they work on a fault that may be coming.
