My brother insurence is up tomorrow and he want's to change companies, the problem is that he has a claim outstanding. He had decided to settle himself and cancel the claim with the insurance company.

Can he still switch or does he have to wait till the claim is actually closed.

He can switch by all means but he is obliged to tell the new insurer about the claim as it's still technically open (and his own insurer won't issue an NCB cert with a claim pending).

We did this a couple of weeks ago, claim is still outstanding with the old crowd (who tried to roger us on the new quote). They were amazed that a new company was taking us on.Not sure if i'm allowed to mention companies
