    Hi guy,

Do any of you know of a camp in thailand that might teach Kickboxing as well as thai? I've been kickboxing for many many years. Always wanted something like this.

I've tried thai, and liked it! But i'm going to have some kickboxing fights comming up towards the end of the year. You guys obviously know how different kickboxing is, I use a much tighter and higher gaurd due to not having to worry about elbows, knees low kickes to worry about. I don't want to pick up any habits that would be benifical for thai boxing and not for my kickboxing. Any opinions guys? am i wrong?

When worrying about elbows, you have to keep a tight high gaurd.
Reckon you should just go and train in a thai camp and train twice a day 6 days a week,no better prep for fights coming up you would be fit as a fiddle, and you would kick alot harder.

I think you will find that Thai fighters can hold a vey high guard if required, I cant think of any habit in Thai that would serve you badly in a fight (bar the obvious use of elbows knees throws and low kicks), in fact your defence would be sharp with using the shins and knees to block kicks etc. and the training you would get for instance if you train with knees your abdominal muscles will be rockin because if you can weather a knee then a body punch wont bother you too much.

Why go to Thailand if you want to learn kickboxing? If you want to learn kickboxing and keep away from Muay Thai habits then Thailand obviously isn't the place for you.

If you want to learn "kickboxing", pop over to the states and train with any of the Roufus brothers.

God i hate when i read back posts and find that my posts look stupid. my gaurd is much tighter than any thai style guard ive seen been used. My stance is also much different. Thanks for the advise guys. I will probably go for it. I'll be fit as a fiddle and conditioned by the time I can come back. My kick should be twice as strong too. It should be a great experience
