Album Design Software

    Hi there,

I'm looking for advice on what software (wedding) photographers use to design albums (both matted and digital)? I am a newbie to photoshop and Lightroom but neither of them appear to be effective for this use - or else I'm not aware of the functionality. I know that using PS one can place multi images on a page etc but if it means opening each image individually then I consider it too labour intensive when working with up to to 100 pics.

I've downloaded and used the trial version of photojunction - it's what I have in mind but it's not ideal (they don't have overlay templates for the matted album I use), it has bugs and it's fairly basic for the $500 price tag.

Whether it's licensed or open-source I don't mind but I'd like to know what's the best software available. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

try fotofusion - you can download a trial that saves watermarked images, but I think it's reasonable enough for the mid-range software - about $100

IMO the best software for building albums is Adobe InDesign. But I also use lightroom and photoshop in the flow.

    My process is :

    Lightroom > Photoshop > InDesign -

    Indesign is great alright.

If you want to print online too, check out the softwear Blurb.com have... They're not the worst company in the world either :)

I use Photofusion but there are tons of other options available and a lot are free when you use the software that is provided ie ROES with templates from the likes of Loxley's etc.

Thank you all for your replies! Much appreciated. I think InDesign is a bit overkill (price and functionality) for my requirements but I'll take another look at PhotoFusion. I had discounted it in the past as counterintuitive but I'll give it another go!

    Cheers :)
