    Hi All,

I cant get the gamecube controller to work in Mario Kart. I booted the console with the controller attached but when the game starts, it isnt recognised by the console.

anybody else have this problem ?

No, but I always take the wiimotes batterys out so that its the only peripheral connecting (not that it should make any difference). I do remember the first time being tricky in that I had the character set up and cup selected with the wiimote then hit the "a" button on my wavebird to accelerate once the first race started and nothing happened. Had to go all the way back to the original start screen (the one with mario and luigi holding wheels) to press "a" on the wavebird for it to be recoginsed.

Also is it a third party controller? Didn't the Wii have issues with them?

No, it's a nintendo controller and it works with the Virtual Console Games.

When starting Mario Kart make sure you press "A" with the GC controller and not the wiimote. If you press A with the Wiimote it thinks you are going to play with the Wiimote.
