A Dublin man has been detained in accordance with the Communications Regulation Act 2002 after an alleged malicious attack on the website of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), the leading professional wrestling company based in the US.

The attacks are reported to have taken place over a period of two days last weekend. The newly created WWE Fan Nation Forum was the subject of the attack.

A WWE spokesman told RTÉ that the attacks on the forum consisted of "lewd and vile diatribes" aimed at WWE and its global fanbase. It is understood that many users were involved in the attacks but so far only one person has been charged.

WWE spokesman Gary Davis said, "certain postings made on the WWE Fan Nation Forum were unacceptable and against the rules set down by WWE. The users who made these postings have been traced and their information has been forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agencies."

Mr Davis also added that WWE believe that although many of the rogue users acted independently, a certain number of them coordinated their attacks through a rival wrestling fan forum, believed to be Figure Four Online. Some form of legal action is expected to take place before the end of the week.

The postings that have created this controversy are understood to have been pornographic in nature. This is a huge concern to WWE, whose fanbase largely consists of young children.

The man arrested, known only as Dave Anchorking, is believed to be a resident of the Blanchardstown area of Dublin. Efforts made to contact the man's family were unsuccessful.

    Anyone from on here? :D

The little I have found out about Mr. Anchorking is that he used to be a student or some sort of hanger on for CPW and that he is connected to World Wrestling Revolution, it's some site masquerading as a wrestling news service.

I don't think he is anything to do with CPW anymore lest anybody make a connection between them both.

I just took a look over at the Figure Four board and I think it's safe to say that it's not the same guy. Look over it a little more carefully :)

I always knew Alvarez's disciples were socially inept, bored and of sub-par intelligence. But this takes the biscuit.

Serves the jackass right for trying to be funny! Deserved everything he got.
    VR!

Edit: Oh crap, does this mean the Mexicant will have me arrested now?

Sounds like the guy involved was acting the eejit alright but can they really arrest him for this? That seems a bit much.

I'm assuming that's a fake news story. Or does Rte regularily use free runhost.net accounts to post news stories?

(not when they have a geocities account set up)

so you are saying its a fake story  i did see the dude posting a ton a crap on WWE.com though

i can see WWE getting very tough on certain material, there was lots of porn being uploaded and WWE are in enough trouble already without that

The lesson for 2008 is messing with Vince McMahon's message board comes at a heavy price. If you're a member of wwe fan nation, thread carefully.

Of course it is, it's not on RTE's site!

They should have been tough on it from the start, learning from this fine site would have been a good idea! It's heavily moderated here but there's still plenty of spammers and the like registering every day. I'm not sure if they'll ever be able to do it properly

So is the story true or not then? I'm confused !

Anyway, if this Dave Anchoking or whatever his name is, is who I think he is, then I've met him on more than one occasion. He seemed ok then, but what he did to WWE's forums was soooo retarded. What a complete mongo. Heres a link to the Bebo for his "talk show". http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MID=367137231&MemberId=1830295809

As for the racism on the board, I would say that it was racism in spite of WWE, rather than actual hate for Jews or Black people. Had the topics been posted say, here, then they would be completely innapropriate and would have been treated as such. But having them posted on WWE's own forum, and them taking days to cope with it, was bloody hilarious in my view. Maybe thats just me. But the idea of Vince (:p) or any of the WWE hacks wading through all those awful topics and realising, red-faced, just how short-sited their project was and just how mean-spirited wrestling fans can be, well, it inspired a chuckle for me.

If it is true, I'd be very worried about the legality off it? Did WWE ring up the Irish ambassador and demand that this man be arrested? I know that when US lobbyist demanded that Pirate Bay be shut down the raid that followed by the Swedish police was illegal under Swedish law and the site only remained for 3 days. Id like to see the law that says that an american company can demand the arrest of an Irish citizen, by the guardi for spamming there board and if so what dose that mean for us???

The report is fake. One more time, it's fake.

From the brief bits I've read on the figure four board, it started as a prank on that board and it's kind of snowballed with it circulating in alot of places. I thought it was pretty funny.

I half played along with it in a couple of posts on this thread today too.
