Saw it a few days ago, Utter garbage. It was an absolute mess of a film. Awful acting from josh hartnett once again and the editting was dreadful, the film was all over the place. The monsters were also crap. It's like dawn of the dead except it's cold, there's vampire things instead of zombies and it totally sucked.

havent seen the DVD , is there any extra etc?

seen the film in the cinema and i liked it. very atmospheric and its nice to have vampires that are actually scary again instead of the effeminate models we've been afflicted with for the last decade and a half.

thought the end was a rip off of blade two though

I really enjoyed it, it was a very good adaptation of the comic books, and as consititutionus says, makes a big break from the type of vampires we're used to seeing.

The end sticks pretty close to the source material though, which was published, incidently the same year as Blade 2. Surely just a coincidence.

It was good, only insofar as it has been a long time since I saw a horror movie that actually was scary. It made a good stab at trying to ratchet up the tension, then release it in an increasing sense of terror and hopelessness. No self-consciousness, no interchangeable teens trying to bone each other, even the gore was used in the right places & not just just as goreporn.

There's a meaty looking 2 disc set out in cool packaging! i'd say there'll be a few cool extras on that

I don't know, I think on the whole kids are overplayed in horror movies as of late, so I didn't find that scene very creepy at all.

Didn't like it at all. But the music in it was good.

I really enjoyed it. It has it's faults, the lack of tension after the intiial vampire attack being a big disappointment but overall it was one of the most entertaining vampire films in a long time. In recent years all we seem to have got are Anne Rice type vampires completely lacking any real threat.

Anyone else pick up 30 Days of Night: Bloodtrails? I watched it and was very disappointed. The case lists the running time at 41 minutes but at least half of that ais made up of the opening and closing credits which run with each of the 7 episodes. There is no option to watch it without the credits, which is a shame as it's actually quite a decent short film.

As a big fan of the comics I loved this movie. First vampire movie I can recall in a while with genuinely creepy vampires. The dvd is excellent as well, a lot of features and the original comic as well.

I'd like to know where the vampires bought their clothes, could you imagine that lot walking into M&S surely there would be some questions asked, maybe between the killings they have a sewing circle ?

Didn't think it was awful, but hardly a horror masterpiece either. Thought the vampires were well realised, and some cool camerawork and effects (e.g. the helicopter over the town). Some obvious flaws (including the fact that the chronology feels like a day or so - they never seem to reflect the actual time that passes) but fun, dumb actioner that does what it says on the tin.

    Awful shame of a movie.

I absolutely loved it. Highly recommended. If you are one of those people that likes to focus on the positive in a movie, I'm sure you will really enjoy it.

If you usually spend the 90 minutes looking for plot holes, you most likely wont.

Enjoy it for what it is. A gory, tense, entertaining comic book horror movie.

Thought it was enjoyable but that's all. A complete gore fest, could've been a bit scarier for my liking, though the vampires did look great (though the fella in the middle here was the scariest of them all). Ben Foster was excellent too. Actually found myself laughing quite a few times though at parts which I don't think were intended to be funny...

maybe i picked it up wrong but i got the impression that the kid was a local girl that got turned ala that bloke under the building and thats why they were so appalled by her.

i agree somewhat with the comment about how it didnt really feel like they were there for 30 days, maybe a few scenes showing em trying to cook on the sly and having meals wouldve helped. still some great images. the helicopter pan of them feeding and the blood on the snow were great visuals.

seem to remember someone saying when it was in the cinema that it had a kinda ann frank/ nazi vibe to it crossed with "the thing" . i think thats a pretty good analogy.

A decent horror movie. The story wasnt great but still had a few jumps.

Decent Vampire flick, reminded me a bit of The Thing with the remote cut off setting and also the recent classic The Mist.
Worth picking up on Blu-Ray, great Picture and hidef soundtrack. Decent set of extras with a 51 minute High Def making of which is basically a diary of the production. Also its region free so pick it up cheap in the US from Deepdiscounts or Amazon.com

I actually thought it was good!!! I mean not the best vampire/horror movie ever but it was good!!!

Josh Hartnett is very bad in lead roles I think and it should have been someone else but OMG Danny Huston makes up for it and was brilliant!!! I love him and want to see him in more movies now!!! I loved him in The Proposition and I would highly recommend that movie.

Ben Foster was great in this too, if you liked him in this I highly highly recommend you watch 3:10 to Yuma he's in this most of the time and I loved his performance.

Anyway 30 Days Of Night good and enjoyable, I would recommend it. You either like it or ya don't!!! :D

    Crap, unscary vampires.

    Yawn.

Atmospheric. Some of the shots could be comic frames and i enjoyed the overhead panning in the initial attack.

But i felt it was overlong and the tension ebbed a little... it just couldn't sustain the impetus

anyone know when "zombie strippers" is out? Looks so bad it'll be brilliant! With a magic combination of "yer man who played jason back in the day" and a pornstar how could it possibly NOT kick ass?

it's out on R1 DVD during the Summer. A R2 release could be months afterward.
