i like #1 - the b/w conversion has a harsh feel to it which i think works. The perspective of the round tower is a little odd - my mind is saying round towers are suposed to be bigger than crosses - maybe its me. At 28mm it could also have been the perspective given by the lens or just the high ground that you were on :D

#2 is ok - but it looks a bit too much like a statue (heh i'm overstating the obvious here) - maybe a bit more silhouetted (sp?) - still it has an interest factor to it and i certainly wouldn't discount it.

#3 - imho it definately missing something - like the bottom third of the buildings. Technically its good - you've managed to capture a night scene with good focus maintained. I think what i'm trying to say is that its a pity your vantage point wasn't better. So this one - not for me.

#4 - in a strange way i think this has something to it. Maybe not something you'd hand on the wall - Could be used by the HSE in their drink awareness campaigns - as in 'drink and you could end up like this guy'. Nice use of the macro - next time maybe try a smartie or something more happy - at least that way you can eat the product when finished shooting it :D

Overall - promising stuff. Well done.

needs to be viewed bigger in flickr to appreciate it but the b/w is really nice - no harshness here and captures a moment kinda perfectly (fuzzy socks and all - my daughter is big into fuzzy socks :D !).

    Just thought i'd mention it.

    Cheers.

Yeah, the girlfriend wasn't too happy when she woke and found my camera mounted on a tripod and pointed directly at her :D

Thanks for the comments AnCatDubh. As a total newb at this stuff, it's nice and reassuring to get at least a couple of positive comments :)

I really like the third one and there's something about the fourth one as well.
I have the same socks as those in lots of different colours, they're really soft and cuddly.
I like the angle on that shot too, very nicely captured. :)

Similar to the lights in the bottom left corner (Don't know what the technical term for that phenomena is). Would have loved to include it, but it was impossible given my position at the time.
