Anyone know if there is a quick and easy way to get Photoshop to tell you how many layers you have in a given file rather than counting them?

Unfortunatly, I don't... I'm sure there is a way - I usually number my layers on the way up though...

the layers on the way up got the file names of the photos that were dragged in...maybe I need to attach a counting number as well.

if you're really stuck for a way to count lots of them you can run the "export layers to files" script found in the file menu under scripts. Then use explorer to tell you the number of files in the directory where you saved them. Unless you have a fast computer you're probably better off just counting them manually!

You could save a version of the document as a fraction of its size first to speed thing up.

Alternatively you maybe albe to find or write a script of your own to spit out the number.

I've tried this out with three different .psd's with 2, 6 and 64 layers respectively . It counted them right! - Link to script.
To run this simply go to File->Scripts->Browse and then choose the above file you just downloaded :)

    Hope that helps ya Treasa
