I just use a few A4 pads, change them as the heat starts to burn through.

this is actually a issue, I use a table mat, its basically a cushion botton, with a table top stuck to the top of it. I'm sure loads of stores do it.

You can also get your nuts removed.

I find a hard back book does the job. Haynes service manuals are a suitable size and thickness. Defo avoid using cushions, you'll be blocking any air circulation required for cooling.

I was more concerned about damage to his laptop, than to his nuts tbh.

My mate has a foldaway chillmat, she recommended that to me last night as my new HP notebook burns through two fecking pillows and a duvet.. thank goodness I have no nuts!

This iswhy they are being called "notebooks" in stead of laptops as some guy sued as his legs were burned from having it on for too long.

My MacBook Pro ran very hot so my wife came up with a solution. Very simple. She left it, in it's case, on the backseat of the car. Problem solved.

    Cushions dont really work ...
M&S and loads of places sell cushioned lap trays for less than a tenner and they are the biz...you'll get over feeling like a geriatric after a little while.

Also, it might help to clear some dust from your laptop fan & fan vents. You can get a manual airblower in pc world etc. DON'T blow into it yourself, unless you like condensation on the inside of your laptop.

Good job Noel, let me know your thoughts.. her laptop wont get NEARLY as hot as mine as she is not on it as much as me :o

I have a sophisticated cooling and separation device which distances any part of my body from the heat of the laptop and also is built of non-conductive material and serves as insulation even if I should come into contact with the device itself. It actually came with the apartment but I think you can get them in many stores or even build them yourself.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,394 ✭✭✭robinlacey
