    Rune Lindbaek
    Friday 25th April
    @ Rí-Rá, Dame Court, Dublin 2
    Doors: 11:30 - Admission : €10

Downtownsounds will ramraid the Ri-Ra basement for the last time on Friday April 25th when we welcome Norwegian disco maestro Rune Lindbaek to headline what should be an emotional evening for all concerned. Lindbaek first came to prominence in the mid 90's with the disco infused house productions of Those Norwegians. A contemporary of Lindstrom (with whom he has collaborated), Prins Thomas and Royskopp, his productions and remixes have appeared on a galaxy of labels from Manchester's Paper Recordings, The Idjut Boys' Noid imprint to his self run Romklang label. His latest LP, 'Klubb Kebab', released on Noid, is a collection of dancefloor destroying disco bombs, and his DJ sets are famed for their wild eclecticism. From his beloved disco rarities to glitchy electronica, bumpin' house music and all points in between, this man will launch you into space!

The decision to leave Ri-Ra was not an easy decision to make, but after three and half years there, we felt it was the right time to move on. From our first party there with Studio 54 legend Nicky Siano in December 2004, there were few dj's that weren't blown away by the atmosphere and sheer enthusiasm of the dancefloor at Ri-Ra when Downtownsounds was at the controls.

From veteran producers/dj's/legends like Ashley Beedle,Danielle Baldelli and Farley Jackmaster Funk to nu-disco heroes like Lindstrom and Prins Thomas, Lee Douglas and Metro Area, and cult heroes like The Unabombers, Idjut Boys and the incomparable Maurice Fulton, Ri-Ra helped define and refine the DTS aesthetic – a broad church of sounds from funk and soul to disco, house, techno, punk funk and party classics. Indeed the three residents nights we ran there must rank among the finest parties we've ever thrown. While our hearts are a little heavy as we leave Ri-Ra, we're also more than a little tingly about the prospect of hooking up with kindred spirits Space Camp and The Winter Olympics to run a weekly blowout in Button Factory (formerly TBMC).

We'll continue to strive to bring the very best in international DJ talent to our fair capital, with the friendly and welcoming atmosphere we pride ourselves on..... And anybody who's seen the lush new layout of the refurbished Button Factory will know that we've probably found the place to take the parties to the next level. We'll be launching that little doozy on Friday May 30th, with full details to be confirmed in due course.......
