A lot of the negativity is personal opinion. Me, I just don't like Strats. And Gibson are great, well at least they were until they gave up on Quality Control. Top end Custom shop jobs like the pros use are a different kettle of fish too of course.

Well, actually Slash's main guitar that he was famous for wasn't a Gibson. It was actually made by a luthier called Chris Derrig. :D

You learn something new every day! Like when you tell people that Jimmy Pages most famous early stuff was played on a paisley Tele, they go "whhhhaaaaa???" :p

Actually I've heard that too. You'd be surprised what guitars some people use in the studio. I've heard about a few death metal and heavy metal guitarists using Gibson Les Paul Junior's in the studio! :D

Sure back to Slash. On the Velvet Revolver - Contraband album he used a strat in places where he needed "that sound" but wouldn't use it live as he thinks they are too fiddly! :D I couldn't believe that when I read it.

Actually I think they're too fiddly too. But you can't deny that sometimes they have that sound in your head and no other instrument will do it.

Perhaps, but I'm happy with splitting the coils on my Asat. :D

I think the Strat is a great instrument, but I find them way too small. Also, they're so popular that you hear them so often that the sound becomes too familiar and sort of boring..
