Burning DVDs.

Heading away for a few months and want to burn my cds and other files to disc so I dont damage/lose the originals.

I've got 'roxio burn to disc' and a bucket-load of dvd+rw discs, but it doesn't seem to work in my dvd player, here. I've burned a few dvd files, mpeg-4 files and even converted to avi, but no result. Is it just my DVD player, or am I missing something?
    Thanks,

    Sean

Does your DVD player support mpeg4/divx or whatever the avi format is?

You will probably need to convert them to DVD video.

As Sherifu suggests, your DVD player may not support formats you've written.

How are you planning on using the copies?
If it's in a PC or Laptop you can use just about any format but stand-alone players are more particular (CD's in CD Audio format, Movies in DVD Video format etc)

I'd also recommend using DVD R's instead of RW's.
In my experience they improve both reliability and compatability.
