Aspect picture ratio on TV changing

Can anyone please help: lately when I turn on my TV and Sky box, the aspect picture on the TV suddenly changes from the default "WIDE" to "4:3". Sometimes this happens when only I change channels. I always then use the remote to change back to WIDE.
    Any comments appreciated

    This is the correct operation!

Lots of channels should be 4:3. On some channels it should even change when adverts appear or program changes.

The Skydigbox tells the TV via scart.

    Picture settings in System.

Why do you want squished pictures? Get used to black bars.
TV Widescreen is 1.78:1 Cinema Widescreen is 1.66:1 to 2.7:1 (1.85:1 appears to fill screen without black strips as most TVs overscan a little).

I and a few others had the same problem a few weeks back.

Some good info in the following thread:

My Digibox was madly flicking the TV between 4:3 and 16:9, but cleaning the PCB with soapy water and pot scrubber probably was related.

(No sound. On investigation that part of PCB had what looked like bird dropping.).

The Digibox is fine this morning though, sound and WS switching. I find the WS switch does not work properly when TV 1st turned on unless a 4:3 channel selected and TV set to 4:3 (Philips WS CRT). After that it's fine on Sky Digibox and Palcom DSL4 FTA set.
    Strange.
