    I'm thinking (and I stress that I'm only considering it) putting together a very basic site for my photo endeavours. Who offers good free web hosting these days?

    Most free webhosting is rubbish, but your own ISP may offer some free hosting. Usually ISP hosting will be ad-free also.

    a polish friend of mine got me one on their polish ebay (allegro)
    a 2gb disk, 10 gb traffic a month, unlimited domain parking, etc for something like €4.50 a year
    that's as near free as it gets
    speed and reliability are good (not extraordinary but enough for me)

    are you getting your web access from eircom ? they give free webspace and no adds afaik.

    I'm using godaddy.com at the moment, loads of space and bandwidth, if you want space drop me a PM and I give give you an a/c if you want somewhere just to test drive your site...I already host a few sites on the side for free :)
