    Folks

Just to let people know (incase anyone else didnt get the letter) I have a 2006 Ford Focus Estate (1.6L Duratorq (FV6)) that Ford have just recalled for an "Urdent Action Required" repair of the control module of the cooling fan assembly due to high salt levels in winter from roads.

The letter implies a fire risk in the car from overheating!

Recalls happen to most makes and models - while they can be a nuisance form the point of view of having to make a trip back to the dealer, but at least the manufacturer is being proactive and addressing potential problems in advance of a serious fault.

It's worth noting that not all 2006 Ford Focus Estate (1.6L Duratorq (FV6)) may be affected. Usually it affects a specific range of VIN rather than every single model. So I don't think there's any need for every Focus owner to be alarmed. If your vehicle is affected you will be contacted. However, if you have bought one second hand, it would be no harm to ring a dealer or Ford Ireland to see if your vehicle is affected.

I agree that its good the manufactuer is being proactive, I did not intend to come across as being annoyed, was more a post to alert other Ford Focus owners just in case they didnt get the letter.

Not to the extent they do in the UK, but if there is a reported fault due to a manufacturers defect then usually all vehicles in the affected VIN range will be recalled, if necessary.

A similar recall affected Citroën C4 - something to with salt affecting the ABS connections.

    EDIT :

You didn't. And you are right to alert others - especially those who may have bought a second hand model and may not be on Ford's list as the registered owner.
