Changing from American english

Whenever I set the language on my computer to Irish or UK English it says that it has done it. However, when I need to do a spellcheck on a word document its reverts back to American English and American suggestions for spelling. I have tried setting Irish or UK English as the default language in the word document but it keeps reverting back to US English. Does anyone know how to set it permanently to Irish English? Thanks

I have the same problem and it's very annoying because MS Word then marks many of my correctly spelt words as incorrect (becaus the US version of the word is different). I remedy this by simply adding the correct version of the word to the user MS word dictionary. Right-click on the incorrect word and select 'Add to dictionary'.

Microsoft office folder in start menu item>Office tools>Language setup or something, can specify dictionary in there, well should be able too ;)

don't forget each document stores it's settings too
so for each and every document
select all, tools , langauage , mark selected text as English

click on default and set too for all new docs
you will probably find all pages are set to letter rather than A4 too btw so have a look at page setup too

This is one of the things that i hate about Word. I finished my final year project on monday, just before i printed it i ran a spell check and i got a ton of incorrect spellings cos my language switched to US english again...

    Hopefully yoyo's tip will work..
