Selling rates for images

Ok, something that I can't find but I'm sure people have experience of.

    How do you price images?

I know how to price single prints to people, and how to price images to newspapers, but how would you price images to a club/organisation?

I was thinking of web usage and also programme/magazine usage.

Obviously, you'd want to specify usage of the images, and a license for use, but what would you charge?

I was thinking along the lines of €20 for web usage for up to 4 images for a 1 year term, and maybe €30 for a single print run of match programmes.

How does that sound, or how do you price your images?

Maybe try to price a whole job for them, with another customer I have I tried the license method and it worked out too messy to police so I just do €300 per day rate and at the end of the day I hand over the JPEGS, much easier for me in the long run and I can also sell the shots to magazines and newspapers. Try to organise a method that is easy for them and yourself and present it to them.

I can barely see them paying €50 never mind anything more. Currently, someone is giving them free images, however they contacted me about my images (probably due to quality) to ask my image rates.

Hmm. I'll have to think more about this.

Are we talking LOI/AIL clubs? Surprised at any LOI clubs asking for rates tbh, most of the programmes would be loss-makers. Personally I'd let my own club have any of mine for free once my named appeared with it (even if they were better than they are!). I'd probably let any other let any other club use them for free on the same conditions as well, but then again I've been involved in a club trying to source good images for website/programme. My ways may not be for everyone. :)

I don't do free. Having my name on their programme/website doesn't pay for camera gear.

I guess I'll just make up a rate and see what they say.

    Yep, talking about LOI football.

Well if you're talking a First Division club, you are going to have a very small print run (low hundred's), except for maybe the likes of Dundalk who almost put together a magazine for every game and it sells well.

Websites though get a surprising amount of hits, even for small clubs.

I've been told I'll be paid a yearly rate with Waterford United and if anything extra appears I have to make records of it and invoice them.
