Buy a scanner today

If I was looking to buy a scanner today (i.e use it tonight) in Dublin where should I go?

Was thinking of the Canon 4400F, Argos have it, but at close to double what it can be picked up for off Dabs. Would be willing to go a bot more than Dabs to get my hands on it today, but not double what I can get it for elsewhere.

Not stuck on the Canon though, so suggestions welcome.

    Thanks
    Brendan

If you can't wait for somewhere online to deliver (and given that it's now tonight I suspect my reply is too late anyway) I doubt you'll get a great deal anywhere, best just to check out all the usual suspects and pick the best - PC World, Harvey Norman etc...

I have the 4400F - it's a decent scanner, very good with slides actually, OK for negatives & very good on printed documents. there's lots of handy software with it (for creating PDF's & the like).

I thought it was good value (I think it was around €100 when I got it), although I don't shoot that much film these days. Dust can be a bit of a problem but I guess that's going to happen with most scanners (affects my 30D as well!)

Do a search on here for flat bed scanners, some other people have used Epson & other makes that get good reviews too.

Have just bought the Canon from dabs.ie. Shocking differences on prices though.

    Dabs.ie - €86.14 (€72.64 + €13.50 shipping.)
    Argos - €119
Compuworld, Dun Laoghaire, - €175

I haven't dealt with them, and i know it's too late now, but Elara (www.elara.ie) let you collect from them if it's any use for the future?
