When we all go to interviews we claim " we try to be professional by not allowing our Personal Issues affect us while working" do we really or is that BS...
How do you controll it, cope with it and try to avoid it affecting our work

My friend recently broke up with her bf of 2yrs and she can't focus at all today-she's mentally and emotionally wrecked! It was unexpected... I have Personal Issues but i don't let it affect me(i try to controll it)

Your personal life will affect your work and your work will affect your personal life.

It's hard to keep them separate given that work takes up so much of life.

I thought I might bring my moods into work, sometimes its hard not to, but the other day I was chatting to my boss who said she had never seen me allow my personal life to effect my performance.

I was fairly delighted with that comment tbh.

As a bloke I can compartmentalise stuff and ignore it while I'm doing other things so not really.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I forget work once I leave the office. When i'm at work I try to do the job as best I can. So not really.

I don't "Allow" it as such

I try to keep things seperate but the two definately cross over at some point!

I find it hard to separate the personal issues and it does affect my performance. The fact that my job is boring does not help. My appraisal next week is shaping up to be great craic.

Well the anser is YEs to about 80 or 90 % of people if not more.

If you drink that effects you, maybe only a tiny bit but it does. Then working the day afte rpaddys day or something like that has a propper effect on you.

Some people dont work well on mondays...

Others dont work well for a day or two after returning from holiday or some after having a baby ect.

    So much effects.

I try and leave my shit at the door when I come into work - usually so busy (never have time to be on boards:D) that I can easily forget about everything once Im here..

I am always conscious never to let it show that I am under stress with home life/private life/sad etc. when I'm at work. Though I have to admit there have been times I've had to make a dash to the loo for a private cry. But I do my best to put on a brave face.

Most times, I switch off and run on autopilot when working. But, sometimes, it's hard not to to think about certain things, but I can't say that thinking about them would slow me down or affect my performance or anything.

depends on the issues and depends on the day in work. if its just something small like an argument or something then i usually forget it in work. if its something life changing like a breakup or someone being seriously ill its hard not to let it affect you.

also if youre busy in work its easier to forget things than on a slow day.
