Health Spas

Looking for a bit of info about health spas. It's the girlfriend's 30th soon, and I wanted to treat her to a weekend somewhere.

I did an online reservation on Temple Country Spa in Westmeath. I didn't book it or anything, I just wanted to work out the price.
For two nights accomodation for both of us, and three treatments just for her, it came to e850.

This got me thinking, I heard a while ago that places like Croatia & Lithuania have high quality health spas, and I was thinking I could probably get a package deal to somewhere like that, rather than spend the exorborant amounts here.

    Anyone any advice for me?

It is apparently cleaner to use things like the Sauna completely buck ass naked.
So you will have mixed sex naked saunas in Croatia.

Which is interesting if you find use the same one as the national swim team.....

This topic will probably be moved, but anyway...
If you go to Riga, there's a town by the beach about 20 minutes away....Jurmala and there are loads of spas there. We were staying in Riga and just went out for the day. I remember at the time airbaltic.com had some package deals for spa breaks including flight, hotel and treatments and it was a lot cheaper than here, even taking into account the flights. At the time, was thinking it would be a nice break to maybe have 2 days in Riga in the city and 2 days by the sea. In the summer, the beach is a good place for sunbathing. We went in March and the whole place was dead, the sea was frozen, we were sure the hotels were all closed and they looked a bit bleak on the outside, but all bright and modern on the inside.
In Lithuania the health spa capital is Druskininkai. It's about 2 hours by bus from Vilnius or Kaunas (Aer Lingus fly to one, Ryanair to the other). I just stayed one night there, but it really seemed like a beautiful spot, in the middle of the forest and just so green. Check out www.inyourpocket.com
Vilnius is also a nice city to wander around, if that's where you fly to.

Try Lisdoonvarna or Annaghdown Spa. Good, apparently.

I was Temple for a weekend in February and it was fantastic. The whole weekend was really really relaxing, the staff lovely, treatments were great and food was to die for.
TBH one of the things that made the weekend so relaxing was that it was a short enough drive (from Dublin) and there was no hassle at airports, luggage allowance etc. Although it is expensive at the Spa it is well worth it and would be a great present for your girlfriends 30th.

Parnu city in Estonia and Jurmala in Latvia. Ryanair/ AerLingus/ airBaltic fly to Riga and Jurmala is a 20 min drive. AerLingus flies to Tallinn and Parnu is a 2 hr drive from there. Both cities are located by the beach.

On the other hand, maybe pay the extra, book it in Ireland and avoid the hassle that is flying.

What about a place that's in Ireland and reasonably priced?

I've been looking for something and all I can seem to find are the places that cost a fortune.

Is there no where in this country where you can spend the day lounging about steam rooms and saunas for less than €100?

try budapest. Has the thermal baths & lots of hotels there have spas too. The treatments are supposed to be very reasonable compared to here. We are heading soon & got an apartment at an amazing rate but if you want a spa, try some of the hotels.
