I'm looking for some 1.6 mm acrylic retainers for my nose piercing so I can keep it open whilst in work.

I paid €8 for them in Dublin a while ago and thought it was an extortionate price.

Can anyone recommend a site that sells them ?

Acrylic is so, so bad for anything other than lobes in my opinion.

And yes €8 is very steep indeed.

Check out glasswearstudios.com retainers, they're fantastic.

I found the acrylic quite bad, they usually last a couple of months and then start to degrade.

    thanks for the link ;)

My piercer has recommended buying a roll of fishing line and cutting pieces off the size you want, then melting the end with a lighter. You get about 50m for the same price as one pre-made retainer!

That'd obviously only work in a tiny piercing though, as fishing line is really thin!!!

Fishing line? Brilliant! I've heard that suggestion so many times and yet I still forget to recommend it, silly me.
I'm sure its perfectly sterile, especially since your burning it, duh!
Beware though, I wouldn't recommend swimming with it in as you may catch some fish, which may cause the piercing to rip out.

(Am I allowed to be this sarcastic here? :p)
