fixboot or fixbmr?

    hi,

    xp stopped booting so im in the repair console just dont know which to use... also, can anyone confirm that either operation will NOT wipe format my drive at the same time, there's some VERY important information i need so cant afford to lose.

    try fixboot first ,fixmbr fixs the master boot record of the hardrive, its a bit more risky.you cud boot from EMERGENCY BOOT disk cdrom,or linux bootable cdrom ,if you wanna backup,data,mp3s,etc to an external drive,usb.
    i think fixboot fixs winxps boot/startup files.
