I'd be glad to do that for the money he'll get...

oh God im terrified of that happening, everytime im in a lift i have to grip the bars. im not afraid of small spaces, theres just something about lifts.

when i was younger i was in 1 with some friends & they pressed too many buttons & it shuddered & stopped halfway up, then the doors opened & closed to show us wall, shuddered a bit more & eventually continued upwards! think i was about 10/11, have been terrified of them since. i would totally freak out if i got stuck in one.

Lucky he didnt decide to have a **** to pass the time :)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Guess it depends on your company? Know a lad who stopped this small lift between floors in a club to be with his g/f.

An eight page article on elevators? Must be a slow news day.

He sues the company for 25 million but settles for substantially less (he's not allowed disclose the amount but it's not a six figure sum). He's currently unemployed.

Read the last para. He didn't get much, spent it all, lost his job, house friends etc etc.

Greed gets you nowhere it would seem.....

    EDIT: Earth beat me

Longest i've been trapped in a lift for is about 10 minutes, but it was a nice big industrial one and i was clocked in at work so it was a welcomed break :p

I'd say i could last about 6/7 hours before going insane. After that i'd have to try and sleep all the time and put it out of my mind.

In fairness though what do you expect when someones caught in a lift.. ok they may be freaked out at the start or scared of small places, but after a few hours they've no choice but to just deal with it.

    For $100,000 i'd do it :D

41 hours in a small, confined box with nothing at all to do and no self-loving? Come on! I'd have fired at least 10 off.

I've never been stuck. I work on the 1st floor of my building and can take the stairs but take the elevator on the off chance it will break and I get a few minutes of work.

It has broken for other people on other floors but has yet to do me the honour :(

He pisses after a while and hopes the urine will attract attention somehow (by dripping on the floor below I assume) but it doesn't.

lol, unlucky... times like these when a portable media player could be your best friend.

I guess he should have moved on to plan B and pinched one off

Well, it was 1999 and the guy was on a cigarette break. With the proliferation of mobile phones today I'd say it's unlikely you'd get caught in an elevator without one.

F*ckin' hell, 45 mins stuck in one was bad enough for me never mind 41 hours! Sounds like that story a while back about a teacher who was locked in the staff toilets for a whole weekend last year!

I'd have gone insane by that point, actuually, well before that point

Reminds me of that time Picard got stuck in the turbolift with the kids. Lucky for them that he hates kids.

What a **** article, its like its written by a stoner. He just goes off on complete tangents about elevator workings, building, films and elevator manufacturers.
