length of ipoker alias.

I'm with a number of ipoker sites, all of which have a maximum username length of 12. I have noticed the odd alias that has greater than 12 chars however. Anyone know how this comes about, is there one or 2 particular iPoker sites that allow more than 12 chars?

Eh, it was just something I was curious about, not exactly the most important issue in poker by a long stretch, so f'in what though - doesn't mean I shouldn't ask if I'm interested. Sick of you jump on the bandwagoners... if you got nothing constructive to say then * off. Or better again give me links to your insightful posts in this poker forum.

Ah here! I could have said obv I've seen them too but I dunno what site. But that doesn't help at all, really. I was just replying cos reading your post made me laugh a bit! Thought I'd found someone else as bored as me!!!!

It wasn't directed at you Tommy. Yeah it was just a throwaway type of question asked out of boredom, just if I wanted the alias iPawnedTommyGunne on most ipoker sites I'd have to pick IpwnedtGunne, not quite the same don't yeah think, A very important difference imo .

Anyway was just annoyed that coillte felt he had to get his boot in also, after your point (not blaming you btw) it was like my post was fair game for a more nasty sarcy comment.

Anyway I realise it's a very trivial question, but stupid!? - jeez man mustn't be doing much browsing on boards is all I can say.

Slightly Off Topic and of equal importance:D but something i came across on ipoker specifically Carlos is a problem with login on to the Carlos website. Ill explain a bit better but this drove me nuts, basically i changed my password no problem and with all the security concerns i was using a program that generated a 14 character password. This worked fine on Carlos poker client until i tried to login to the website to withdraw but it kept rejecting my password.

I then contacted the helpful support staff and they sent me a reset password, its worked fine then and i changed it to another generated password and whamo it wouldnt work again.

This happened umpteem times, emailing support, waiting for a response and loging in, change to 14 character generated password and so on again and again. The reset password was only 6 characters or something so i wasnt happy with a password that small and to cut a long story short i figured out that although you can generate up to 16 characters of a password when signing up or changing your password which will work fine on the poker client when you login to the actual website to withdraw you can only use the 1st 12characters of your password and if you put any more it will reject the password.

Of course i sent an email explaining this so it might save the support staff wasted times as anyone with 13 or more characters in their password will have the same problem and i got a reply saying something on the lines of "if your having problems with your password we can reset it and send you a new one":eek::mad: and after a few more emails explaining i had my problem fixed but i was trying to point out a flaw in their system they basically didnt have a clue they said theyd send it off to tech support for review i.e Deleted Items in Outlook Express and its still the same a month later although i would imagine changing the 1 line of code from < =12 to <=16 could require hiring someone who knows what hes doing so im sympathetic to their situation. Not sure if this expands beyond Carlos and theres probably not that many people with passwords of more than 13 characters though.

So although this is up there for the most pointless post of the day it might help someone else in the same position from pulling their hair out with Carlos Support/Copy & Paste Robots.
