Signing on the dole

    Hey im in college at the minuite we are finishing up in a few weeks so i have been looking for a job even part-time for now then some extra hours in the holidays . i havnt had much luck with geting a job but a friend suggested that i sign on the dole for the summer months but im not to sure if this would be aloud but i dont know anything about signing on the dole at all and was just wondering what u guys think would i b able to do this ? I am in college in northern ireland aswell so i dont know does that effect it !

    Well with spelling like that there appears to be little hope. :p

    You could sign on but if its Unemployment Assistance you want its means tested (so if you live at home and your folks work forget about it) or Unemployment Benefit. You'll need some contributions to add to Student Credits you've acquired by being in college to get the full rate, otherwise it'll be half rate.

    Best bet is to get a job which can be easier said than done I know.

    well i dont do english so spelling has gone to the dogs but i couldnt care less tbh . but thanks for the info man

    You will not quailfy for Jobseekers Allowance if you are returning to college in Sep.
    from welfare website:
    The legislation also provides that a person shall be disqualified from receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance while attending a course of study (including school/college holiday periods), except in such circumstances as may be prescribed.
    You will only quailfy for Jobseekers Benefit if you have the credits.
