Whats your BOMDAS and why?

I was having a chat with the lads in the band about pedal setups etc I've played with people who just hook them all up together and work away with no real consideration to the possibilities of what they can do when they mix their pedals etc, imo it limits their potential. i was thinking that theres no real name for your setup order etc(that i know of anyway).. the best way i could describe it was by using the old maths as an analogy..

To solve the sum you use bomdas
    (4*4/2) + (4/1*2+6) - (5+5)
    BOMDAS
    brackets
    order
    multiplication
    division
    addition
    subtraction

    My pedal setup is a
    Behringer Bass limiter Enhancer
    Soviet Big muff
    Boss TU2
    Boss DD6
    Boss GEB7
    Boss DS1
    Ernie Ball Volume Pedal

    I go
    bass-> TU2 -> DS1 -> BigMuff -> Limiter/Enhancer -> Volume Pedal -> DD6 -> GEB7

    why?
tu2 imo works best with a clean signal
ds1 is a guitar pedal and it loses all sound when i kick it in, so the limiter/enhancer beefs up the sound, i put the muff before that also because that needs a jump too imo.
The volume pedal is before my dd6 so that i can use the DD6 for more atmospheric sounds, creating a violin type sound etc.
At the end i have my EQ for boosting the overall signal of everything.

    Whats your 'bomdas' and why?

I usually go with this signal chain...

Bass > Fuzz > Tubescreamer clone > input of switchable loop [Morley Power Wah Fuzz in loop] output of switchable loop >Boss CEB-3 > Amp

I hope to put a comp in there soon. :)

Obviously I don't use everything at once (much ;) )

Guitar (strat, telecaster or eastwood), ts9, Fender Blues Deluxe/champion 600.

I used to have more but i just hate having "too much" going through my setup. I can't think of what i'd want to buy effects wise as my next purchase, I think i'll just save up for a Bacchus Strat!

Well today I tried and quite liked:

    Gretsch 6120 -> TU-2 -> Electro Harmonix Linear Power Booster -> Amp.

I like how simple it is, minimal dilution of tone.

    Guitar -> GT6 -> amp. loop ->Marshall guvnor -> DS-1 ->DD5

Don't really use the Gunvnor and DS1 since I got the GT6. Still, sometimes I just go straight into the amp and not bother with the GT6 and use the DS1 to fúck up the amp overdrive and get a mad tinny fuzz sound. Guvnor is a waste of space, although it's a fine pedal, but it's the same as my amp pretty much.

Yes...too many pedals will degrade your sound.....that's why i go for the classic ACDC setup.....Gibson =>15ft guitar lead =>Marshall.

Although the OP doesn't have a clatter...just 7.....but seem to be essentials too.

Guitar mags tell you to group them in 5 catagories.
    From the guitar/bass...
    1. Compression
    2. EQ pedals (including Wah)
    3. Distortion and Overdrives.
    4. Modulations (Chorus, Phaser, Octave etc.)
    5. Reverb and Delays

But then you can always experiment and get your fav sounds.

Now alls you have to do is save up for some cables and you're sorted :pac:

My set up is Bass > amp. I had tried Amp > bass but it didn't really sound the same :pac:

In all seriousness I have one pedal for bass (which is a Behringer Bass overdrive, fine for messing around with but wouldn't be used for anything much else) and a few for guitar, they go into whatever order they can fit into the briefcase I keep them all in :D

I would like to think right now i have everything i need pedal wise. I dont want to have 2 distortions, but when you hear how they sound they are 2 totally different kettles of fish altogether. The DS1 has a more ambient distortion, where as the soviet muff (which i have the sustain all the way down) gives a fat sound with a grunt - which is nice for filling out sections of songs.

With my limiter/Enhancer at the start of the link it doesnt seem to fill that ds1 at all, its only after it that it puts a punch in there, the only problem is that the EQ pedal at the end has no room to boost/change the clean signal now, it just distorts. I have to play around with that a little more i rekon. As far as EQ pedals being at the start of the link goes(wah).. hmm, i dont agree with that really, im asuming that your putting the volume pedals in there aswell.. imo that really restricts the potential of using a volume pedal. Have you ever put a wah after a delay - fun!

If i was to cut my pedals down to the bare minimum of what i need, and just get by with my sound it would be

    Soviet Big muff
    Boss DD6
    Boss GEB7
    Boss DS1

Where as these are just for the luxury of making the sound better.
    Behringer Bass limiter Enhancer
    Boss TU2
Ernie Ball Volume Pedal (a must have imo, great toy to have)
