Britains first all new venue since 1927 opens today (though not to the public).

I watched most of the card there today and was wondering why the stands were so empty. Didn't occur to me that they weren't open to the public. Should have read this earlier.

It does pose the question though. If there are no punters there, then presumably there is nobody betting so how were SPs and Totes declared? I didn't notice wheher they were giving Tote returns so you can probably ignore that bit but question still applies for the bookies' prices. In one race (the last I think) there were two or three big market moves. One opened at 6/1 and went off 3/1 fav...how does this happen if there is nobody on course backing it?

I would say Industry S.P.'s were applied which being returned by the bookmakers would be open to manipulation.

The track looked as wide as a motorway, the first public meeting is end of May. It should look quite impressive when its all painted up and sun bathed.
