You would save the fitting cost :).
Anything beetween 20 and 30 ish yo's a sq yard to fit a solid floor depending on lots of parameters but a professionally fitted floor is a world of difference from a diy job. Would'nt recommend it,the saving on fitting will be very noticeable to people as they walk around your house. If it was laminate flooring in a bedroom id say all enthusiastic diy ers should give it a go but solid wood is best left to experts imo.

This is more of a DIY question lad but I will leave it for now re your question as regards the deal, but if you want to know about putting down solid wood flooring yourself then ask this on the DIY forum please.

YOu need a good chop saw when putting it down solid wood flooring, very important but I have put down solid wood flooring and with patience and the correct tools it is quite straight forward, the pros will be faster without doubt but i have seen some "pro work" and it can be dodgy as hell.

beech is very nice down ,but can be a nightmare down as it expands side ways and frontwards and backwards and alot of fitters will not fit beech as their is much call backs with it , maple is nice down but depends on what grade you get ,rustic, country, premium grades . budget decor do some good deals on floors in sandyford .
