    Hello there,

I am heading off travelling to South America and will be doing some hiking... Nothing too extreme: inca trail and some other stuff on spec around Brazil and Argentina... Would anyone be able to recommend some boots for general wear. Nothing too specialised would be grand but I'm looking for a pair that'll last the test of time.

    Thanks Alot

Go to Great Outdoors in Chatam St. Dublin and get them to fit a pair to your feet. If you're not based in Dublin then travel. It well worth the service and the boots will be comfortable and dry. The last thing you want on the inca trail is a horrible burst infected blister.

I'd also recommend the berghaus explorers, Love mine. Whatever brand you go for get a gore-tex lined pair.

    Gore-tex = essential.

And don't water get in to them because it's as good at keeping it in as it is at keeping it out!

look out for something Gore tex lined and possibly with a Vibram sole
+1 for bridgedale socks. expensive, but i havent worn any other sock in the last 3 years. worth the investment in general. crappy tube socks or football socks etc never work.
