Tonight's topic is.......Tanora!

A while back I was with a college friend from Limerick (college being UCC) and we were having lunch.
Anyway I picked up a can of Tanora and he told me that Cork was the only county in Ireland where you could get it. He also told me it was carcinogenic! (Seems like anything can be linked with cancer these days)

I'm just wondering is that true? Can it really not be bought anywhere else? And would you stop drinking it if you thought it was dangerous? (I haven't! Too damn tasty :D)

BTW apologies if this should belong in another forum

Seriously, it was lovely, can't find it anywhere anymore.

Well what I heard was that it was gotten rid of in other counties because of the whole cancer" thing but that the demand in Cork was so high that they left it there!
So it doesn't matter if us Corkonians get cancer apparently!:D

I've been to Cork; I didn't know it was carcinogenic.

It was briefly available in Dublin years ago, or at least in one shop near where I worked. There was a guy from Cork in the office who thought Christmas had come early when he found out. He took it badly when they stopped selling it. Awful stuff it was, they're welcome to it in Cork.

I used to know a guy who loved it... came into my local shop every day and bought it.

He slowly got sicker.. and sicker.

    Then one day...

    BAM!

    .. car accident!

I've definitely seen Tanora in places other than Cork, but it's widely sold in Cork and only sold in a few shops elsewhere. It's nice but I only ever have it when I'm home and my mum buys it.

Everything causes cancer these days. This post causes cancer.

Mmmm...great stuff, just reading about it makes me want some!

I know up until recently, they were selling 2 litre bottles of it in the local Tesco (in Dublin) but haven't checked there lately.

    A) It's available in supermarkets in Dublin.
    B) It's nothing special, an average orangey flavoured carbonated drink. Tastes a bit like soluble multivitamin pills like Berocca.

Tanora is class, was drinking a bottle of it heading up to a club in dublin, the bouncer asked me what it was thinking it was beer, i showed him, he laughed, called me a bogger and let me in.
They sell it in most tescos and dunnes, there is no excuse for not trying it at least once, you will be converted!

Heard the same thing many times about red lemonade, that it is only available in Ireland because the colourant in it causes cancer. Turns out it is genuinly only available in Ireland, but the cnacer thing is rubish obviously......not sure why you can only get the stuff here though, tis a strange one.

    TANGERINE, DAMN YOU!!!
    I said "orangey", not "orange".

    Tangerines taste orangey.

It is carcinogenic and Cork is the only place you can get it. Those two things are both connected. The rest of the country just can't put up with the high-pitched whinging anymore, so steps have been taken.
