Lost my virginity, now disillusioned

I am a 23yr old male and I lost my virginity 6 weeks ago to a prostitute in Prague. For the last 10yrs I had been looking forward to this moment and it came and went. However now I feel no better, at least I know what I was missing out on.

I liked the intimacy of it however I just can't translate how I feel for women into action. In all the bars and clubs I am a complete failure and just can't really talk to women. I was tempted to use another prostitute here, but I don't want to get into a vicious circle which I can't afford.

I am not good looking and had a hard childhood which I reckon has left me emotionally scarred and afraid to try things due my past failures.

I am not shallow and and it is womens personalities I like rather than their bodies (all the better if they are ho, but not essential)

I live in a rural part of the northwest and don't have two many friends either and I rarely go out.

If anyone was in a similar position to me, post your expeiriences and any tips on how to "normalise" myself and get out of this rut I am in now.

    thankz!

    Hi OP,

Not really in a similar situation, but can see what you mean.

It varies from person to person, but for me, I lost my virginity when I was 21 (am 28 now). Not due to any reason other than I just didn't have sex up till that point. when I did decide I was ready, I went in town, picked some guy up and slept with him. Maybe it's better for some people to do the whole romantic thing, but for me it wasn't. I've never had any regrets.

Neither should you! It was your choice at the time and you made it. Just because it's not the norm doesn't make it wrong. The very fact that you have these thoughts just prove you're a nice guy.

Take it easy, chill and let fate take control.
    x

the first thing you need to do is get rid of the idea that pubs and clubs are the only place to meet women

My first time was rubbish, even the second time wasn't much better, its only once, as you say, you build an intimate relationship with someone that allows you to trust completely does it get sensational.

I wonder what you mean by 'normalise' yourself, if you mean out every weekend picking up someone different, if that's normal you are welcome to it. No doubt, at 23, you feel the world is passing you by, it isn't believe me. I know you have probably heard it before, but a great way to meet new people is by joining a club of people that share your interests, be it football (Come on the Celtic), GAA, learning spanish, whatever, get yourself out and about in places that are not necessarily picking up joints.
