Does anyone have any experience of working in a bank during the summer? I have applied to several banks for this summer and I may have a contact that can put in a word for me. does anyone know how long of a contract they offer and what the pay is like?? Also are the jobs generally front desk cashier roles or do you get back office work that might be more intersting?

    Thanks

these jobs aren't generally advertised. Its just a case of applying to a branch direct or via the banks website. Might be an idea phone the branch as ask them if they take on summer staff, then they can tell you the best way to go about applying.

You might want to get on to a friend of a friend or best of all if your daddy or mummy works in the bank you're sorted :D

Because you never know, they might want to work there when they grow up LOL. If your da or ma is a manager then BINGO!!!! That being said, I know a guy who used to work in the bank during the summer. But when it came to getting a real job with the same bank, he failed big time. Ha Ha!!

+1. Everyone I knew in for the Summer had a parent working in another branch  Peeps like me had to sign a permanent contract and then conveniently 'leave' when college started back up :D

Did you tell them you were in college or did you pretend you were dropping out?

Does anyone know if it's too late to send in my CV for summer work at this stage?

Bit like the time when I worked in the Civil Service. Spent the summer of 2005 there and got a contract in the post the next year wanting me for 2006!!! Unfortunatly I had to refuse because I was doing my masters :( Seems to me if you do any sort of good job you have a job for any summer you want.

Go to a recruiting agency. I got a job in Ulster Bank last summer through one. It's well boring though!

Anyone know a good recruiting agency to use? I suppose it's too late now to be thinking about these things now though:(.
