Hey guys. Im having serious problems with my Sky box tonight..

Let me start from the beginning.
I got sky installed at christmas and it was working grand. I was losing the signal whenever it was windy and I was told my dish wasn't aligned properly. So I literally went upstairs and moved the dish with a stick until I had a good signal(the dish actually moved within the bracket, obviously wasn't tightened properly). Its been grand for over a month since then.

Last night we started having problems on nearly all channels but we were watching rte1 at the time, Signal degrading then nothing, it was pretty unwatchable and kept coming and going. At the time it wasn't windy so It wasn't the dish.
Today its ever worse, I went up and adjusted the dish again to see if it would help and I got the signal strength up to about half and quality to 3/4. Still most channels aren't working. Just checking the first few channels they seem to work for a few secs then go to no sat signal being received.

Ive been sitting here for the last few minutes watching the Signal Test Screen. At the moment its got no signal and no quality and its not locked.
It seems to be going from this to having 1/2 signal,3/4 quality and OK Lock every few mins and there is no wind outside and nobody or nothing is interfering with the box or dish or wiring. The other details are Network ID: 0002 and Transport Stream 07d4.The menu music also disappears when the signal goes.
I also unscrewed the Fconnector at the back and bared a new bit of mesh and made a nice conection ( I thought it was a bit loose, but me redoing it didn't make a difference)

I just don't get it.. It was perfect up to last night and nobody interfered with it. Just suddenly started giving trouble..
So Im just wondering if anyone knows whats wrong with it..
    Faulty box maybe?

    Thanks for any help.

Is there trees growing in front of the dish by any chance?

Nah, The dish is on the side of the house, fairly high up (~4metres). There are no trees near it. We have trees out by the road and this dish is pointing in that direction but Im pretty sure it points way above them. And they haven't grown much in the last few nights..

I mention trees, because it's Spring.

This is assuming tree interferes with Line Of Sight....
The dish was put up at Christmas when the tree is bare so some signal getting through, but now the tree is starting to bud and show leaves, less signals get through the branches.

This is based on past experiences with trees and their love of growth durnig Spring, though is irrelevant if the tree is evergreen or isn't in the dish's line of sight!

Yup, they are all evergreen :)
And Im pretty sure they aren't in the line of sight, The actual dish is above the level of the trees and its definetly not pointing down. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Ah right. well, it's one less possibility so.

You'll probably be best getting Sky to come and look at it so. It can only be signal (or lack of), LNB fault, faulty digibox, or poor cable connection (maybe at dish).

It's gonna be hard for yourself to figure it out without the equipment... Is there a chance you could get the loan of another digibox, and see if the same problem replicates on it? It woudl rule out one option.

I don't think I know anyone I can borrow a box from unfortunetly, There isn't many people around here with it whom I would be comfortable to ask such a thing..
Its after getting even stranger now though. the signal is staying but there only seems to be a handful of channels working. just going through the first few.. 101-108 is giving me the technical fault error. 109 is working fine. 110 fault. 111 fine.112 fault,113 ok.114 ok.121 -122 fault. 123,124,125,126 ok. 127,128,129,130 fault. 132 ok (weird, all the uktv ones seem to be fine..)

What the hell would cause such random channel availability?? Viewing card maybe?

Oh well, Looks like I have to call sky tomorrow..

Oh and both signal strength and quality both seem to be staying over 1/2 at the moment.

    LNB has 4 modes.
If one or more fail, then you get a mix of missing channels.
It can be a receiver or LNB fault.
