Applying for a PPS number

I've just started working in my first job since moving to Ireland, but can't get paid until I sort my taxes.

From what I gather, I need to get a PPS number. I lost my passport and applied for a new one last week, so that will be a good few weeks until I get a new one. Would I be able to show my UK birth certificate (long form) + my NUI Galway student ID card? I don't have an AgeCard/drivers license.

Is there anything else I need before I can be paid?

It's the Dept of Social & Family Affairs for the PPSN number.

Your landlord can give you this. Also handy for getting a bank account sorted out over here.

I know this, I'm asking about the "valid Photographic ID". All I have is my student card, but if they accept "Employment ID" then surely an NUI card would suffice too?

I have my UK birth cert, and I'm still waiting on my [Irish] passport to be processed.
