Cabbage help(windows version)

Hey all,
My sister is using cabbage on her laptop
well trying to....she gets "error: (-2) Could not connect to network site"
any ideas why this is happening?
she's using 1.75 beta
if i change it to connecting through a server by tick the box it say "error (-6) program generated error"
hopefully someone can help

a -6 error when using the server means the program failed to access the internet, not just the server.

does she have a firewall active? if so she should set c:\program files\cabbage\cabbage.exe and c:\program files\cabbage\cabbage\send.exe

to be allowed access the internet. if she's using a firewall, what is it called? or does she have any norton software on her computer (anti-virus or internet security)

when you select to use the server, is a server selected and if so, which one?


is internet explorer set to work in offline mode? if so, tell it to go back to online

what network is she on?

did it ever work?

replace the values in capitals with her details in the address below and put it in the address bar and go to it to make sure she has the right details and the server's accessible. a number should appear on the screen and that's the number of messages she has left:

http://cabaal.org/cabbage/send.php?u=HER_NUMBER&p=HER_PASSWORD&s=HER_NETWORK&d=DESTINATION_NUMBER&m=hello


the network should be put as m, v or o for meteor, o2 or vodafone

the destination number can be anything. best to just use her own number

Dine the two highlighted,adding send to firewall didnt work but when i set i.e to online it wokred

i wouldn't be 100% sure on this but i'd say she's on o2. if so, adding send to the firewall and setting ie to online were both required to get it to work. if she's not on o2, ie being online shouldn't matter.

and you should add cabbage.exe to the firewall too and set it to use the server because it generally works faster, especially for o2 accounts
but if it still gives a -6 error, just keep use server unticked

she was on o2 but she ported her number to 087

then i have no idea why setting ie to online worked

must be something to do with how vb accesses the net in the background

edit: having checked, i can confirm that the program won't send at all if ie is set to offline mode. must add that to the FAQ

what is cabbage??? i have looked on google and ill i can find is the veg and a game called the wolf the sheep and the cabbage...

Hi, since you guys seems so great at already solving the other persons problem, any chance you cud help me with mine pleeease?!

The error message i got is in the title, i dunno whats going on. im not that good with software and programs and all that

ANy help really appreciated! :0) I already got the software so i can use cabbage from my phone ;0)

first, go into more->manage servers and tick "use server". then try again.

what network are you on?

did it ever work?

Sam, this is more to do with Meteor than your program, but i'm getting a message saying I need to go to the meteor site and log and enter text in an image. However, when i to the meteor site I can log in without having to do the image thing. Just thought you may have come across this problem before and maybe know a way around it ? I can send from another meteor account just fine. Thanks.

the only thing i can think of is clearing your cache from internet explorer. put this in your browser and let me know what you get back:

http://cabaal.org/cabbage/send.php?u=YOUR_NUMBER&p=YOUR_PASSWORD&s=m&d=YOUR_NUMBER&m=hello

replace the values in capitals with your own details. an example would be

http://cabaal.org/cabbage/send.php?u=0871234567&p=password&s=m&d=0871234567&m=hello

does it happen whether you have use server ticked in more->manage servers or not?

Thanks Sam. I cleared the cache, tried again with same result. Put the link you gave in browser and it came up with 297, and sent a Hello message to the phone. Tried cabbage again and it worked. The use server box was ticked all the time. Thanks.

Hey, i'm getting the "error: (-2) Could not connect to network site" problem. I'm on Vodafone and it was working perfectly up until yesterday. I think Vodafone have changed their site could that be anything to do with it?

yes it could, and it did

go into more->manage servers and tick use server.

and make sure this server is selected:
http://cabaal.org/cabbage/send.php
