    HI

First of all, if this is in the wrong forum, I apolagise, I did read the charter/sticky on this forum prior and thought this would be a suitable place to post.

My query is, how safe and secure are Internet Banking websites when being used on foreign computers, or computers that you do not own or control such as Internet Cafes and public librarys etc. For example, I was to use AIB online or BOI online in an Internet Cafe would it be safe? How easy is it for another person to come along and find out your details such as pins and user ids that you may have used to login to the system?

Is there a way of erasing any personal data from a machine after you have used it such as deleting cookies and temp internet files etc?

The only safe way to use it is not to use it.

After that there's always some form of risk

I've been around the world and was always very careful about the PCs I used when checking in with the bank. I've used some dodgy Internet cafes in some dodgy parts of the world, I always avoided IE where possible and only used Firebox.
Avoid IE if it has a tone of toolbar utilities installed. There isn't really a solution to this, as the problem could be with the PC rather than browser.
Don't take a chance, just move on to the next place, there is always a better place not far away. If you're really stuck, Skype call the bank, most web joints around the world do this.

What if someone intercepts the skype call? what if the person in the bank works with 419'rs?

I know in the case of BoI's 365 Online, you're never asked for your fill PIN; just specific digits. Also, sometimes you're asked for your DOB while other times you're asked to input the last four digits of your contact number. Needless to say, if you didn't log in too often in a dodgy internet café, they little greedy git wouldn't have all your login details and you'd be safe.
