Yesterday at the Ballymun hotel in Poppintree was shut down to the public and the employees, news from the inside says that the man who was renting the building off a big corporation , they say he had taken all the documents and has left and is now hiding no body knows were the about of the man is, but this incident has defecated the employees that have families to feed , and the documents that he has includes the P45 and P60 which we all know is essential in getting a new job, so this means the 69 people without jobs will not be able to get new 1s, and they are unable to go on the dole ,

and if we don’t have the dole we have no money , they have now chances of supporting there family

the Question to be answered is

Will the Irish Government let those people go with out Money?

these are people that have workled for a living and they need money to keep on living the goverment should give them the dole and the option to get antoher job, but the rule are you have to have some typ of document to say you woked for this place for so and so months years , but the man ran off with thse documents the information vital to gettng another job, or going on the dole,

Job losses/company takeovers happen every day of the week. There's nothing strange about this instance. The tax office will sort out any documents you need.

So long as they were paying tax, revenue will have a record of them being employed/how much they earned/how much tax they paid/etc. If they weren't paying tax then I have no sympathy.

If ye were paying tax or PRSI then there will be a record of your employment with Revenue. If you were not paying tax then good enough for ye.

Also calm down on the fancy font and colours

(Looks like great minds think alike, buckfast)

i suppose bank statements would help the employees here. If it they were paying tax then it will more than likely be a EFT to their account with the employers name beside it, if it is cash in hand then they have not been registered working for a long time and will more than likely be still claiming the dole, sorry if i offend but 99/100 getting cash in hand are usually on the take somehow.

Were you/they getting cash in hand? If tax was being paid the tax office will be able to say you worked in place X for Y length of time. If your oss wasnt paying tax that could be a totally different story.

don't make stupid comments. Unemployment benefit is an insurance against losing your job. You pay PRSI and then this is your safety net.

its a big hotel, i'm sure they were paying taxes.

KevT2e - you need to get together with the people who lost their jobs and go down to the social welfare office and explain the situation to them. They tend to be quite flexible. Also ring the tax authorities - they can re-issue a P45, if necessary...

The social welfare people read the papers to !

They will be expecting the staff and will be able to sort out allowances. You do not need a p45 to get a new job. A letter to the tax office will get you a tax free allowance but you may have to pay emergency tax for a few weeks.

This whole episode is nasty but the social welfare will look after it.

yep true, but if there is evidence of something gone wrong then they will (had to get them to issue me once after i couldn't get one from a company i used to work for). They don't like doing it though.

How can a hotel owner dissappear!!!! Sounds like a alien movie to me. I know many people from Ballymun who worked there in the hotel. I also know that this owner does have also another hotel in Tallaght. And that hotel is open, so why dont you all not go to Tallaght and face him?
It is impossible for the person of his magnitude to dissappear. And then there is also of course possibility to report him as taking the staff files as you say (P45 and P60)
is a criminal case already as those papers are personal belongings not of the company but of the worker.
And finally I am sure that the tax office is also up to date with a happenings of this business and surley they would help those who become victims.

    WHAT ?

There are plenty of cases where folk have been supposedly paying tax and PRSi and their employer hasn't bothered his/her barney to pass on the bucks to the Revenue.

So maybe , step down from your high horse and stop and think before you give your opinion.
