    Im an up and down person by nature.
    Happiest in the world when happy, end of the world when down.

    Lately I seem to have difficulty diging out of the low points. They also seem deeper to get out of and more low than usual. This isn't teenage agnst! I'm 26. Any advise?

    Google Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. You can apply the principles yourself. Basically, you learn to identify negative thoughts, find out what brought them on, and challenge them logically. You can then 'defeat' them as they arise.

    When you have a negative thought, just think 'what was I thinking/doing that brought that on?'.

    You might have a mild form of bipolar disorder callled Cyclothymia. Here you would get mild highs and lows, but not full blown manias/elations or major depressive episodes. Its best treated with mood stabilisers. Is there a history of manic depressive illness in your family?

    Wow, whatever you do, don't base your next actions on what you read here.... go and get real-world help, councillors are easy to come by and can work a treat. ironically, that's my advice :)

    I think I'm the same way to be honest. No history of mental disorder in the family ( at least, not documented ) and I have never opted to resort to medicines. OP the reason they might be getting worse is because that depressed half of you is learning its way around the vulerabilities of its better half. You may notice this manifest as debating with yourself: not a schizophrenia, but you just find yourself asking questions ("whats the point") or trying to motivate yourself ("This will be easy/ I have to do this").

    If its becoming harder to deal with it yourself as of late, you should consider seeing a counsellor that can help steer you out of your current low. You can get in 1 hour of therapy what you can from 100 really good posts in here.
