i have been under a rock for a little while, and banned from this forum as it happens, but still, the pats have lost Asante Samuel, Gay, Wilson and some other guy whose name escapes me right now....its a big loss defensively, especially with Samuel....

any other pats fans a little worried, i know we have good defensive cover and really the only one that im really upset about is Samuel, he is a big player...

I think the Pats could struggle a little, with a hangover from this years SB, and the fact that the stars aligned for Brady/Moss - that won't happen again. He'll throw 30 TD's max, and like you said, defensively they've taken some hits (traditionally their strong point). I still expect them to walk into the playoff's, but there'll be helluva lot less records broken.

As long as Bill Belichick is in charge I have no worries. We lost Lawyer Milloy in 2002, then Ty Law in '04 and Willie McGinest and Adam Vinitieri in '05. They were all big names and they were all replaced.
I don't like to see Asante go, but you just know that Belichick will find some new star again.

they will break no records next year, but will still walk into the playoffs next year due to the schedule.I wouldnt be surprised if ye went 16-0 again due to the schedule.Samuel isn't that great of a player btw.

Not worried in the slightest being honest. As Eagle Eye says Pats have lost alot of big names in the past and drafted good replacements. Brandon Merriweather will most likely step back in as CB if we cant find a good replcement and will shine this year. They signed Bryant, Webster, Sanders and Williams so far to fix the scondary and this years draft is the year for Defensive players so I expect Bill to find a decent few replcements out of the above and work his magic on them. Patriots will be alright. For the last 7 years they have gotton the best out of even average or old players so lets Rock and Roll.

Kryogen welcome back dude. Seems I got off lighter than you :D:D:D:D

yup, you dont have to be a great corner to play there for the pats, thats a givin.... i disagree though, Samuel was very important last year, lot of interceptions and good awareness.....Suprised he went to Philly though, big step down imo...no offense to any eagles fans out there!!

Thanks for the welcome Tallaght! yeah i got a pretty hefty sentence alright :)
is the other one still around?? he who i wont name in case it results in a banning ha ha!!

I expect Bryant and Sanders to do well, i hear they have decent replacements alright, was just suprsied so many went in quick succession....

oh and i agree that merriweather will be playing cb this year. seems the obvious choice for me

Welcome back kryogen, haven't seen your nemesis around here in a while...

Samuel really is the only worry I'd say, Wilson had't started in a while and one of the new DBs should be able to take Gay's place. Don't know about Meriweather, he needs to learn how to catch the ball and apparently didn't look great at corner in preseason last year. Him and Sanders should be the safeties for years to come though
