Travel or work

    Hi guys.

I have been offered a good job in the UK to start in september with a decent enough salary. It would mean moving there and renting a place and totally moving away which is really daunting itself. THe job is good and could quit if i wanted but its a start to a career so wouldnt want to start and quit as i need good references starting my career.

The problem is that the gf and I had been strongly thinking of going to Australia or Canada or somewhere to work for a year and travel and stuff.

I am torn between both of these choices. I know its a nice predicament to be in but I dont know where to go. The gf may come to UK with me but i dont think she wants to as she has her heart set on travelling far afield and if she goes to the UK she may resent me for it at some stage for her losing out on travelling. i want to go travelling too and would be nice to get away for a year and see other places.

Both are very daunting as they both involve a large amount of change and this thought of loads of change is also scary.

Any advice, by the way i am 23 so young enough

depends on how much you reckon this job could impact your life. I got offered a job to manage a shop and an interenet cafe once and i thought it was the first step on my road to being a millionaire. then they got screwed up (the owner was mad :D) now while i didn't have to choose between that and travel, it's just pointing out that unless this job is uber elite, you will get good offers later on in life too.

not sure if this helps you now but thought i'd throw my experience in :D

I suppose it depends. My natural inkling would always be towards travelling (as that's what I did) but maybe is it hard to get a job in your field at present? Will you still have at least a chance of getting another similar job down the road? If so travel.

I'm back home doing feck all right now but wouldn't have traded in the last year for the best job in the world :D

    So in short, TRAVEL.

Why not accept the job and go travellling for a few months? This way you can have a ball travelling with the security of a job to come back to? If you like travelling you can always tell the job your circumstances have changed?
