    is there any way to tell what type of ram a mother board will accept and is it worth putting 4gb in an xp computer

    I wouldn't bother with 4GBs in xp, maybe for vista but over 2GBs in xp would be overkill.

    To find out what ram you need, go here (http://crucial.com/) and run the system scanner.
