Seems like a good enough deal but 8M on the night vision ain't much use. You could buy this unit and get far better camera's of fleabay for cheap enough - in from HK etc.

The DVR setup is fool proof enough but if you are a little bit technically inclined then I reckon get the DVR PCI cards, again off fleabay, and you can get far more camera's in each machine and also have much bigger HDD's too. Software is generally included for the cards which record to MP4 etc.

These DVR cards will install into most versions of Windows, or LINUX too if you don't wanna buy/use Windows.

How would you extend the cables from the cameras to the unit Paddy?

Better off getting the one i posted from CCTV direct. For £49 extra you get a similar setup but its got a Lan port meaning hook it up to your router/lan and you can view your camera's anywhere in the world over the net.

I had originally thought to do a custom job like Paddy suggested. However i decided a PC running all day/night would use a lot more power than a simple DVR box. Besides, unless you have a PC lying around.. it could cost more than a DVR to put one together just for a cctv system.

niceirishfella you would use the same type of cables (BNC) as with a CCTV kit. Get some 20m BNC cables... they should have a power cable running alongside them so you plug your AC adapter in at the far end.

There are 30M extension cables on fleabay - they include power, video and sound (if wanted). The standard 12v adapters for camera's can then be plugged in one end and power the camera 30m away - saves having to get sockets near the camera's.

Most ship from HK so you pay near same amount for shipping as you do on the item but it is far cheaper and convenient than having to run sockets etc.

Just watch out for the differing types of BNC connectors too - male / female etc but generally the cards include 4 adapters so you should be OK. Very cheap to get in maplin etc if stuck

    Regards
