Dell Battery problem

    Hi,

I've had my laptop for about two years now. I'm pretty certain it has a 9 cell battery.
It used to always last 3-4 hours on the battery but in the last couple of weeks its reduced dramatically. I'd be lucky to get 30-40 mins out of it now.

Does anyone know of anyhing that can be done to increase its life again or is it just worn out?

    Cheers

Li io batteries are only designed for so many charges and discharges - inherently they are all doomed to failure and should be considered expendable. Same for all rechargable batteries - everything from AAA to my lovely 12-cell and beyond. I dont remember the exact number of cycles but its usually in the ballpark of 1,000. So yes after 2 years that would make sense.

    Buy a new one.

I don't think the charge cycles is as high as a 1000 but yes they do end up going to crap which is a pain.
