    Hey,

I was on a jobs website this morning and came across a position that was of interest to me. At the beginning of the page they had a contact name with that persons email address and at the end they had an "apply for this job section". This Link Gives an Example of what I mean!

Should I fill out the online section or send an email to the person listed as the contact?

    Thanks

Well, if you do either he/she'll get an email in their inbox, I'd imagine.

If people apply for jobs I have posted you get an email saying someone has applied with the details. People do both (i.e. apply through the site and email me directly) and tbh, it doesn't really make a difference.

if it's a large organisation they may have a recruitment system that applications go in to. I've also worked with this. If anyone emailed us directly we had to tell them to go through the application so they can be tracked.

Personally, I'd apply through the website. It's up to you though.

Would I look like desperate if I did both??

No. I don't think so. Somtimes applications don't get through to me on one particular site. I've had people follow up with emails before. There's no harm applying online and then following up with a polite (and not desparate sounding!) email saying, "I just wanted to make sure you have my application as i know the sometimes don't get through," or words to that effect.

I'd apply direct.... and mention where I got the details. Otherwise your application might get lost in a list of 'Jobs.ie Application Ref:' email subject lines....

Shotdown within 30 mins! I get a reply saying they reviewed my cv but I was unsuccessful at this time. :(

Sent a mail back just asking for some feedback so I could change a few areas and I get this:

    name @ company name.blackberry.com on 18/04/2008 15:34
The message could not be delivered because the recipient's mailbox is full.

To me it sounds as if the position was already filled and they just sent a generic mail!
