Just thinking to myself, with all the Game movies that have been released over the last couple of years, how long do you think it'll take before some Hollywood basement script monkey churns out this inevitable crapfest?

Which game do you think they would rip off the most?
Who would be a good lead?

I foresee a twisted hybrid of Crank, Shoot' em up , and gone in 60 Seconds.

On second thought, it could be good actually,
    If they did it right.

I don't know if it would be an inevitable crapfest, theres a chance it would be good but more likely be a big budget flop with somebody like Tom Cruise playing the lead.

I'd love to see it set back in Liberty City with story revolving around GTA III

Maybe Day-Lewis or Christian Bale as the lead, we can only dream.

Off Topic - Sawyer from Lost would make an awesome Solid Snake.

I dunno, I think the movie would have to have a sence of humour about itself to be good.
(Well that and all the violence obviously)
I'd prefer to see Jason Statham or Timothy Olyphant.

I'd like to see a GTA crime movie in the same mould as classic films such like The Godfather or Goodfellas.

I don't think GTA would make a good movie. So much of the games are parody, and small details you have to appreciate. I could see this getting butchered and made into either Transporter or Meet The Spartans, or a bit of both. Any of which would be brutal. So much of the GTA experience is what YOU make of it, you don't get sort of freedom with a movie, no matter how well scripted and directed.

There were widespread rumours that a gta movie starring Eminem was nearly given the green light last year, however R* deny any involvement and said that they are not interested in making a movie of gta at this time.

I should bloody well hope so...

    So would I

A GTA movie would be utterly pointless. GTA is all about parodying the great gangster / crime movies already out there and letting you take part in them. A movie of a game which parodies lots of different existing classic movies is an utter recipe for disaster.

I remember seeing a movie in game called 'Grand Theft Auto' when they sold dvd's, IMDB says it was out in 1977.

'Paula Powers, daughter of wealthy gubernatorial candidate Bigby Powers, decides to reject her parents' attempt at matchmaking and run off to Vegas to marry her sweetheart, Sam Freeman. As they drive away in a stolen Rolls-Royce, spurned suitor Collins Hedgeworth follows behind in hot pursuit, along with a cadre of goons hoping to get the $25,000 reward that's been offered for Paula's return. Can the young lovers make it to Vegas for a quickie wedding before the forces of conformity and privilege arrive to put a stop to their romance?'

Don't think it has anything to do with the games...

I found some info on IMDB about a Grand Theft Auto film, but it seems they're going about it a different way than you'd think!:D
