What size snooker cue and where to get one (online)

I want to get myself a half decent snooker cue - sick of playing with the warped, clangy pieces of crap where I play. I'm not very serious about the game but would like to get a semi-decent cue.

What size should I be looking for - does it depend on height/reach etc ?

Also, where can I get one online - is Ebay any good ? Anywhere in Ireland that sells cues online ?

Presume I should be looking for a three piece cue for portability ?

    Thanks

If you are looking for a cue, you are best of actually buying the cue in person so you can get the feel and weight of it and see what suits you the best. Try the riley shop in the city centre, or breffners (think that's the name of the place, havent been there in a few years). Do a search for both on google and im sure you will come up with their addresses in town

might also be worth seeing if the place you play in have cues for sale. There is also a small place on Capel Street (from Mary st take a right on Capel and its about 5 doors up, beside Ladbrooks) not sure if this is "breffners".

If you just want a starter cue (€20-30) then Lifestyle or Elverys might get you going.

Snooker cues are pretty much a standard size, as BrynW says it is really the feel and weight you really look for.

If you are looking for portability the starting with the smallest, 2 peice -> 3/4 length -> 1 piece.

I'd go with a 2 piece over the 3 piece (not 3/4 length) as personally I don't like the look of the cue with a split in the middle of the cue and then again halfway down the handle.

check out the online store at FOUL4.COM.it carries a great range of master cues and cases.its an irish site run by a friend of mine and is also a good place for coaching and general info on both the amateur and pro circuits
