I went to a gun range last weekend and in order to be allowed to shoot, you had to sign a wavier saying that if you attempted to shoot yourself or anyone else, you gave the employees the right to shoot you and you wouldnt take them to court!
We all signed it and had a great hour shooting the targets. It was an indoor gun range and we were all using handguns with live rounds!

Would you have any problem in possibly signing your life away like this?

Sure you sign waivers for everything these days. Sky diving, bungee jumping etc.

OP: Have "signed over my life" a few times, latest time was when I was scuba diving, think they were covering their own asses in case I got killed by a shark or something.

Sure if you had an operation you'd have to sign such a thing, also if i worked at a shooting range and you tried to shoot me, i shoot you first, i win!:D

    Was this in the US?

What the hell is going on in here?

I'd sign, but I'd have to shoot the staff first.

Have done several times. Skydiving being the main one I can think of at the moment. I dont have any problem with it its just them covering themselves in the event that something should go wrong.

No way I'd ever skydive. That takes some major balls! But at the same time, it must be the ultimate thrill.. But still, parachute fails - you're done :(

Hitting water at that speed is like hitting concrete! Aim for some tall evergreen trees if possible. :)

I may have, i'm not sure tbh. I don't really read the disclaimers/waivers.

Am I the only one that is both confused by this thread and intrigued by what the dots used to be.

So they stop you shooting yourself by shooting you.

I think shooting you in the arm to stop you shooting yourself in the head is only reasonable.

I was hoping this would be a thread about the evils of working 9-5 but cest la vie.

Yeah I've been to a gun range before so I've done the whole "consenting to be shot" thing. as for extreme sports I have yet to sign any waver which allows me to be shot whilst sky-diving, free climbing or even the dreaded sky climbing.

I have however pretty much signed away my life every time I inhale that sweet, cancerous tobacco smoke.

And inordinately difficult. To be honest, that's really just something they'll say to cover their own ass. Their problem is going to be if you try and turn an pistol through an unsafe angle, which to shoot yourself or anyone else, you're going to have to do. They're legitimizing any course of action they may have to take.
