It's strange though, because they are the one country that has actually consistently been good to us (with investment, political support etc). And they are far more respectful to us than our small size suggests they should be.

Seconded, for all their misguided ideas they have always treated Ireland quite well.

The investment has more to do with Corp. Tax, Location, skills, speaking English though.

Yeah absolutely. There are plenty of good things about America - look how much of a haven it was for immigrants. A very good book that urges people to remember these things is American Pastoral by Philip Roth.
