    Hi all,

    I have a dell xps m1330

Its not starting all that is coming up in colour lines down the screen. I am totally FECKED because all my college work is saved on it. I have nothing backed up (stupid me) My project is due next wednesday. Anyone know what might be wrong, can i fix or do I have to send it back to dell. If i send it back to dell will i lose all my pictures and files? God i should have backed everything up. I only have this laptop a few months.

Screen sounds fuxxored. Try plugging in an external monitor. easilly done on campus.

edit: failing that, you may have to track down a piece of hardware and fast:

someone you know is going to have one hopefully. You can remove the hard drive from your laptop and access the files from another machine using this enclosure.

also prudent to mention to whomever you have the deadline with about this problem. And to go to your college tech support because they may have the piece im talking about.

First off, don't panic. You data is almost certainly still on there.

Do you have a computer literate friend? IF so get them to download the ultimate boot disk for Windows and boot the computer off that. Copy everything you need to a USB stick and then worry about fixing the PC.

And people reading this - make a backup tonight of everything you need / want.
